Ümran Işıl Biçer, originally from Turkey, is a PhD candidate within the EIFFEL Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Project, working on Project 9: "Roll-to-roll printing of soluble non-fullerene acceptors for stable organic solar cells," supervised by Dr. Krebs and Prof. Vaynzof. Her academic journey, shaped by the Erasmus Mundus MaMaSELF program, has taken her through prestigious institutions like LMU Munich, the University of Montpellier, and the University of Helsinki. During her bachelor’s studies, she explored polymer solar cells and OLEDs, gaining hands-on experience in their fabrication and characterization and participated in a publication during her work.
Beyond her research, Işıl is a jack of all trades when it comes to hobbies. She enjoys hiking, painting, gardening, cooking, crocheting, and playing role-playing and computer games. Sustainability, in all its forms, is important to her, and she believes the key to achieving sustainability lies in practicality.
What excites Işıl most about the EIFFEL project is the chance to bring cutting-edge solar technology to real-world applications. By focusing on large-scale challenges, she is eager to develop practical solutions that can be integrated into daily life and made accessible to everyone.
