Doctoral candidates in EIFFEL
Get to know Tianyu!
Tianyu Zhao is an enthusiastic and innovative young researcher who graduated from the department of Materials Science and Engineering of Hunan University, China and then went to Imperial College London to pursue a master's degree, focusing on the research in the field of Soft Electronic Materials under the guidance of Professor Jenny Nelson. His master project focused on the charge generation mechanism of single-component non-fullerene acceptors, an experience that not only deepened his understanding of photovoltaic materials, but also gave him a keen interest in interdisciplinary research.
Tianyu Zhao is a lover of nature and adventure. In Alaska, USA, he enjoyed the splendor of the aurora and felt the grandeur of the glacier. In Cornwall, UK, he experienced the charm of the ocean by Scuba diving, and these experiences made him think more deeply about environmental protection and sustainable development. In his spare time, he often organizes hiking trips with friends to enjoy the freedom and inspiration brought by outdoor activities. He believes that nature is not only a haven for relaxation, but also provides a unique perspective and inspiration for scientific research.
During his time at Imperial College London, Tianyu studied the charge generation dynamics of non-fullerene acceptor materials in depth, and accumulated a wealth of experimental and theoretical experience. His work involved the fabrication of OPV devices, device characterization such as EQE, PL, TRPL and TA, which gave him a deep understanding of the performance optimization and environmental stability problems of photovoltaic devices.
Tianyu’s expectations
What attracts Tianyu the most about the EIFFEL project is its unique mode of combining production, learning and research, which brings together top scientific research institutions, universities and companies, providing him with an ideal platform to achieve his study. In addition, EIFFEL's interdisciplinary and international environment is highly compatible with his personal scientific research pursuit and career planning, which makes him full of expectations.
