Let’s introduce Aina!
Aina Shaji Raichal is a vibrant young researcher from India. On November 1, 2024, she embarked on an exciting chapter in her academic journey as a PhD student at the prestigious University of Groningen, under the mentorship of Dr. Maxim S. Pecheniknikov. She holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry from NIT Calicut, India, where she graduated with a Gold Medal for academic excellence, and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram, which provided a strong foundation for her career in chemistry.
Aina’s scientific expertise lies in the field of energy production within chemistry, with a keen focus on renewable energy, particularly hydrogen. Her Master’s research involved the synthesis, characterization, and electrochemical analysis of cobalt porphyrin complexes for hydrogen production, igniting her passion for sustainable energy solutions. This enthusiasm led her to further her studies in energy production and photovoltaics. Currently, at the University of Groningen, she is delving into photophysical studies of non-fullerene acceptors, a field that excites her due to its innovative blend of theoretical and experimental techniques.
Beyond her academic endeavours, Aina enjoys reading, writing poetry, listening to music, gardening, and traveling. These hobbies provide her with relaxation and creative inspiration.
Aina’s thoughts on EIFFEL
She is especially enthusiastic about the EIFFEL program for its interdisciplinary focus, access to cutting-edge resources, and global collaborative network. She believes the program will serve as an ideal platform to advance her research on fullerene-free organic solar cells. Aina aims to develop new methodologies and engage with researchers across various disciplines, aligning seamlessly with her long-term career aspirations to contribute to the scientific advancement of sustainable energy technologies.
