Let’s get to know Albert!
Albert Casas Portillo is a 24-year-old doctoral candidate working at Heliatek in Ulm, Germany. Born and raised in Barcelona, Spain, he is a curious and committed person who enjoys hiking, bouldering, and exploring new cultures. His passion for the natural world fuels his dedication to sustainability and renewable energy. Albert pursued a Bachelor's in Chemistry at the University of Barcelona, where he developed a strong interest in organic chemistry. This interest was further cultivated during his bachelor’s thesis at the University of Uppsala, Sweden, where he worked on covalent organic frameworks. He then obtained his Master's degree in Organic Synthesis from the University of Copenhagen, focusing on the synthesis and electrochemical studies of extended tetrathiafulvalenes and other redox-active compounds.

Albert is excited to be part of the EIFFEL programme for its international collaborations and the opportunity to work at the forefront of renewable energy research. He appreciates the programme’s interdisciplinary approach, which allows him to gain new perspectives, and is eager to contribute to the advancement of organic photovoltaics while learning from leading experts in the field.
